A Love For Dillema (小舍得)

Adapted from Lu Yingong's novel of the same name, A Love for Dilemma is the third installment in the "Little" franchise, focusing on the pressures of the "small升初" (the transition from primary to junior high school) entrance exams in China. The story centers on two families: one led by Nan Li, who believes in a relaxed "happy childhood" for her daughter Huanhuan, and the other by her stepsister Tian Yulan, who pushes her son Ziyou relentlessly for academic success. Through Nan Jianlong, the girls' remarried father, the drama explores how a family's "third generation" navigates the overwhelming stress of modern education, the conflicts between parents, and the pursuit of their own dreams.

The 42-episode series (approx. 45 min each) can be broadly divided into four main story arcs:

• Act 1: The Friction Begins (Episodes 1-8): A family dinner at their grandfather's house sets the stage for the competitive rivalry between sisters Nan Li and Tian Yulan. Tensions spike when Tian Yulan reports Huanhuan's favorite teacher for running an illegal cram school, leading to his dismissal and a deep rift between the two families.
• Act 2: The Descent into "Involution" (Episodes 9-20): Huanhuan's grades continue to fall, forcing a reluctant Nan Li to push her into the same ruthless tutoring system she despised. Meanwhile, Tian Yulan's strict control pushes her son Ziyou to the breaking point during a crucial academic competition.
• Act 3: Breaking Point & Fractured Bonds (Episodes 21-35): The excessive pressure takes a toll on both children. Ziyou suffers a complete mental breakdown, publicly insulting his mother. As the "small升初" exams approach, Nan Li's marriage is strained by parenting disagreements, and the family's prejudices about her children's talent come to the surface.
• Act 4: Redemption & A New Understanding (Episodes 36-42): Faced with their children's unhappiness and breakdowns, the parents have a change of heart. Tian Yulan realizes the importance of her son's mental health, and Nan Li abandons her obsession with exam scores, choosing to give her children a happy childhood.
