Biography
Jiang Xin is a mainland Chinese actress. She started participating in film and television drama shooting at the age of nine. Jiang Xin shot to fame by bringing complex, scene-stealing characters to life—most memorably the proud and tragic Consort Hua in Empresses in the Palace—with a sharp-edged authenticity that has made her one of Chinese television’s most respected acting forces. Breakthrough Role: Her breakout came in 2011 as Consort Hua in Empresses in the Palace. She initially auditioned for a minor part but insisted on trying out for the villainous royal concubine—against the director’s doubts—and delivered such a layered, powerful performance that her catchphrase “How dare you act so pretentious?” became a pop culture sensation. The role earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the Anhui TV Drama Awards and propelled her to national fame. Public Perception: Now in her 40s with over three decades of acting experience, Jiang Xin is widely recognized as a formidable acting talent who has delivered a long string of memorable characters, from Fan Shengmei in Ode to Joy to Song Ying in A Little Mood. In 2025, after years of nominations, she finally won the prestigious Magnolia Award for Best Supporting Actress for A Little Mood. Unlike many of her peers, she has stayed away from hype, scandals, and reality shows, putting her energy solely into her craft. Her straightforward, unpolished personality has earned her deep respect from audiences.
