When love turns to ash (爱落成灰/爱意成烬时)

When Love Turns to Ash tells the story of a devoted wife who has given everything to her marriage, only to discover that her husband has been cheating on her with her own best friend. After a devastating confrontation, she files for divorce and walks away with nothing but her dignity. Determined to rebuild her life, she starts over from scratch, finding a new job and slowly regaining her confidence. Meanwhile, her ex-husband, who took her for granted, soon realizes the depth of his loss when his new relationship falls apart. As she blossoms into a successful, independent woman, he desperately tries to win her back. However, the heroine must decide whether to forgive the unforgivable or embrace a future without the man who once broke her heart.

The series has 24 episodes (approx. 10–15 min each) and can be divided into four main arcs:

• Act 1: The Betrayal & The Break (Episodes 1–6): The heroine uncovers her husband’s affair with her best friend. After a painful confrontation, she demands a divorce and moves out, starting her new life alone and heartbroken.
• Act 2: Rebuilding & Rising (Episodes 7–12): She secures a new job, works hard, and gradually gains recognition. She also forms new friendships and rediscovers her own worth, while her ex-husband begins to feel the first pangs of regret.
• Act 3: The Ex-Husband’s Desperate Pursuit (Episodes 13–18): Realizing he has lost a treasure, the ex-husband tries every trick—from grand gestures to emotional blackmail—to re-enter her life. The heroine struggles with lingering feelings but remains firm in her resolve.
• Act 4: Final Choice & Moving Forward (Episodes 19–24): The ex-husband makes his ultimate plea, but the heroine must choose between giving him a second chance or leaving the past behind for good. The finale shows her embracing her newfound independence and opening her heart to a brighter future.
