Two Families (姐妹兄弟)

Set in the early 1970s, Song Zitang betrays Tang Xianmin to the authorities to secure a higher position, causing the Tang family to be persecuted and the two families to become bitter enemies. Years later, although the parents remain at odds, their children—who grew up together—fall in love. Song Changqing and Tang Xiaoyu are deeply in love, while their younger siblings, Song Jianguo and Tang Xiaoxue, form an unlikely bond while trying to separate them. As the families navigate romance, betrayal, and the sweeping tides of China's reform and opening-up era, they must ultimately confront whether love can bridge the hatred between two families.

The 42-episode series (approx. 45 min each) can be broadly divided into four main story arcs:

• Act 1: The Feud Begins (Episodes 1-10 approx.): Song Zitang betrays Tang Xianmin, leading to the Tang family's downfall. Years of resentment fester between the two families. Meanwhile, Song Changqing and Tang Xiaoyu's childhood friendship blossoms into love, setting the stage for conflict.
• Act 2: Forbidden Love & Tragedy (Episodes 11-20 approx.): To stop Song Changqing and Tang Xiaoyu's relationship, Song Jianguo and Tang Xiaoxue scheme against them. However, their plan backfires. Song Changqing stabs a theater troupe leader to save Tang Xiaoyu and is sentenced to prison. Tang Xianmin dies from the shock, deepening the families' hatred.
• Act 3: The Younger Siblings' Romance (Episodes 21-32 approx.): Despite their initial rivalry, Song Jianguo and Tang Xiaoxue fall in love, becoming a "happy couple" that slowly begins to mend the rift between the two families. However, their relationship faces its own set of challenges as the two navigate family opposition and personal ambition.
• Act 4: Reconciliation & Moving On (Episodes 33-42): Song Changqing is released from prison but cannot rekindle his romance with Tang Xiaoyu. He eventually marries Cheng Jie, who becomes pregnant with his child. Song Jianguo is sentenced to prison for intentional injury and bribery, but Tang Xiaoxue promises to wait for him. In the end, the two families set aside their grievances and support each other through adversity, achieving a hard-won reconciliation.
