the sunflower that found its shadow (心有葵花向日倾)

Adapted from the novel "Touching the Rose" (《触碰玫瑰》) by author Hua Ying, this short drama tells the story of the "good girl" Xue Wanyi and the underworld boss Xu Jingchuan. Their fates intertwine when Xue, after losing a drinking game with friends, bursts into his private room and boldly takes his belt. Despite the danger, she finds herself drawn to him, while Xu, who has only known darkness and survival, begins to fall for her warmth. What follows is a classic "big bad wolf vs. little white rabbit" story of mutual healing and redemption.

The series is an 80-episode short-form drama (approx. 2 min each). The story can be roughly divided as follows:

• Act 1: The Fateful Encounter (Episodes 1-20 approx.): Xue Wanyi accidentally barges into Xu Jingchuan's private room during a drinking game and takes his belt. Their destinies become intertwined through a series of chance encounters. She sees past his dangerous exterior, and he begins to feel drawn to her sunshine-like warmth.
• Act 2: Pushing & Pulling (Episodes 21-40 approx.): Xu Jingchuan continuously saves Xue Wanyi from danger but pushes her away, believing his dark world and traumatic past will only bring her harm. In a move to protect her, he even tries to set her up with another man. However, Xue sees through his tough exterior and refuses to give up.
• Act 3: The Break & His Realization (Episodes 41-60 approx.): Xue Wanyi finally decides to focus on herself and her career, genuinely leaving Xu's side. Without her constant presence, Xu Jingchuan is forced to confront his true feelings and finally realizes he has completely fallen for her.
• Act 4: A New Beginning (Episodes 61-80): Xu Jingchuan swallows his pride and actively pursues Xue Wanyi. The story concludes with him going legit to be with her, showing his devotion by kneeling to put on her shoes in a symbolic act of surrender to his "sun".
