Plot Overview

The story centers on Bai Xiyue, a resilient and clear-headed female surgeon. After a difficult divorce, she raises her young daughter alone. Five years later, a drunken night unexpectedly leads her to share a bed with her ex-husband, Ji Liancheng. The estranged couple soon finds themselves entangled again in an intimate arrangement. Ji Liancheng, a once-cold and aloof CEO, begins to aggressively pursue his ex-wife, evolving into a "love-brain" husband desperately seeking reconciliation. The series follows their journey through a storm of misunderstandings, family conspiracies, hidden truths, and high-stakes emotional drama toward a "broken mirror reunited" (破镜重圆) ending.

Deep Dive: Story Arcs & Episode Guide

As a short-form drama with approximately 79–80 episodes (each about 2 minutes long), the story structure can be divided into the following arcs:

  • Act 1: The Unexpected Reunion & Forced Proximity (Episodes 1–20 approx.): Five years after a painful divorce, Bai Xiyue, now a single mother, wakes up next to her ex-husband, Ji Liancheng, after a drunken incident. The unexpected encounter reopens old wounds, while an arrangement pulls them back into each other's lives. The first act of the drama largely depicts the female lead's suffering and builds emotional tension.
  • Act 2: Veiled Feelings & The "Fireplace" (Episodes 21–40 approx.): Ji Liancheng, once a cold CEO, is revealed to be a devoted, if awkward, "love-brain" seeking to win back his ex-wife. As they are pushed closer together, the underlying secrets behind their initial separation begin to surface. The early part of the show is noted for its strong emotional push before it becomes heavily reliant on tropes.
  • Act 3: Hidden Truths & The Child's Secret (Episodes 41–60 approx.): The "broken mirror reunited" theme and the secret of Bai Xiyue's daughter (the "hidden child" trope) come to a head. The drama introduces a series of classic "dog-blood" plot twists—including a medical crisis, the daughter's kidnapping, and a scheming mother-in-law—that put their fragile reunion to the ultimate test.
  • Act 4: The Climax & A New Beginning (Episodes 61–79/80): The fallout from the various conspiracies is resolved, with the antagonists facing their comeuppance. Overcoming the final hurdles, Bai Xiyue and Ji Liancheng reunite, forming a new family unit, with the ending hinting at a new pregnancy for the female lead.
