While the core premise of the rescue team captain and off-road leader investigating a shared family tragedy is retained, the drama makes significant changes to character dynamics and plot structure, with fan reports indicating substantial alterations to the male lead's storyline and the romantic progression.
- Character Arc: The original novel featured a "strong female lead, weak male lead" (女强男弱) dynamic. The drama reportedly changed this to a "dual strong" (双强) setup, altering the power balance between the leads.
- Plot Restructuring: The parental grievance backstory was swapped between the two leads (父辈恩怨归属关系对调), changing the emotional stakes and motivation for each character.
- Romantic Dynamic: The romantic progression was reversed—the novel's "female chasing male" (女撩男) dynamic was reportedly changed to "male chasing female" (男追女) in the drama.
- Character Arc: Fan reports indicate that the male lead's screen time was significantly reduced, his character was "completely severed" (完全割裂) from the original novel, and his role as the rescue captain with commanding authority was weakened.
- Plot Focus: The drama reportedly lacks a dedicated personal storyline for the male lead (无男主个人线), with key plot points being marginalized to advance other characters' arcs.
Plot Overview
Adapted from Taotao Yilun's novel of the same name, the story follows Cheng Zhuo, the captain of a public welfare rescue team, and Ba Yunye, an off-road expedition leader and former special forces soldier. They first meet during a search and rescue mission in the Qiangtang no-man's land. After the mission is successfully completed, they discover that the deceased victim is connected to a sixteen-year-old car accident—one that claimed the lives of both Cheng Zhuo's father and Ba Yunye's sister, who were geological experts. Following the clues left behind by their loved ones, the two join forces to investigate the truth. Their journey takes them across desolate no-man's lands, vast deserts, snowy mountains, and dense forests. With the help of the police, they finally uncover a long-buried conspiracy, clear their family members' names, and prevent valuable geological survey results from falling into criminal hands. Along the way, their relationship evolves from initial incompatibility to becoming lifelong soulmates.
