Plot Overview
When the celestial seas receded, the mythical Jianmu tree emerged, and its fruit—capable of granting ultimate power—plunged the realms of immortals, demons, and monsters into a bloody war. A century later, Lei Xiuyuan (Song Weilong), a young man carrying the burden of saving his gravely ill elder brother, deliberately approaches Xiao Bang Chui (Ju Jingyi), an orphan from Qingqiu. Fate brings them together at Chufeng Academy, where their bond grows from friendship into love. However, as Xiao Bang Chui’s mysterious origins are gradually revealed and she transforms into Jiang Lifei—a figure of extraordinary power—they are forced to confront a forbidden love and a destiny that threatens to tear them apart. Together, they must break a twelve-lifetime curse and choose to fight against fate itself, risking everything to restore balance to the three realms. The series is adapted from Shi Si Lang's novel "Thousand Fragrance" (Qian Xiang Bai Mei), but it has been heavily altered.
- Episode Count Cut: The show was originally filmed as 40 episodes but was drastically cut down to 33 episodes before airing. This resulted in the removal of numerous subplots and character development scenes.
- Character Arc (Female Lead): The female lead's character was significantly weakened in the drama. In the novel, she is a diligent and powerful cultivator, but in the show, she is portrayed as much less capable.
- Plot Changes (Female Lead's Heroic Moments): Several of the female lead's "highlight" moments were deleted or transferred to the male lead. For example, scenes where she single-handedly defeats a senior brother or absorbs a elder's spiritual power were changed to "hero saves the beauty" moments for the male lead.
- Plot Changes (Character Interactions): Many of the interactions between the female lead and the second male lead were cut. Furthermore, the first meeting between the male and female leads was changed from their initial encounter at the academy to a "not getting along" meeting beforehand.
