Revenged Love

Plot Overview

Revenged Love is a 2025 Chinese BL television drama starring Zi Yu, Tian Xu Ning, Zhan Xuan, and Liu Xuan Cheng. Adapted from the web novel Counter Attack (逆袭) by Chai Ji Dan, the series is a remake of the 2015 miniseries Falling in Love with a Rival. Born into a humble family with little financial prosperity, Wu Suo Wei (played by Zi Yu) is constantly insulted by his much wealthier ex-girlfriend Yue Yue. Determined to reinvent himself, he starts his own business but crosses paths with Chi Cheng (Tian Xu Ning), the spoiled heir of a family enterprise. When Suo Wei discovers that his ex is now dating Chi Cheng, he decides to take revenge—by seducing Chi Cheng himself. Despite never having had romantic inclinations toward men, Suo Wei commits fully to his plan and successfully wins Chi Cheng's heart, only to be surprised by his own genuine feelings. What began as a game of revenge slowly transforms into something neither man expected. As their lives intertwine more deeply, Suo Wei faces increasing complications—from his ex-girlfriend's interference to family secrets and Chi Cheng's mysterious past. Will this unexpected love story survive, or has Suo Wei's revenge plan gone too far? Meanwhile, a secondary romance unfolds between Suo Wei's loyal friend Jiang Xiao Shuai (Liu Xuan Cheng), a gentle young doctor, and Guo Cheng Yu (Zhan Xuan), Chi Cheng's long-time best friend. Their relationship evolves from playful rivalry to heartfelt affection, offering a tender contrast to the main couple's tumultuous journey.

Deep Dive: Story Arcs & Episode Guide

The 24-episode series is divided into three major story arcs, following the emotional journey of Wu Suo Wei from a heartbroken young man to a man who discovers love in the most unexpected place.

Arc 1: The Breakup and the Plan (Episodes 1–8)

Synopsis Wu Suo Wei is a struggling young artist living with his mother. His wealthy girlfriend Yue Yue humiliates him for his poverty and breaks up with him. Shortly after, Yue Yue begins dating Chi Cheng, a spoiled and charismatic heir who keeps snakes as pets. With the encouragement of his best friend Jiang Xiao Shuai (a kind doctor and his "emotional strategist"), Suo Wei undergoes a dramatic transformation—losing weight, changing his style, and gaining confidence. He then launches his "seduction plan" to win Chi Cheng away from Yue Yue. Key Story Beats

  • Wu Suo Wei is dumped by Yue Yue and hits rock bottom in both career and confidence.
  • Under Xiao Shuai's guidance, Suo Wei reinvents his appearance and attitude.
  • Suo Wei discovers that Yue Yue's new boyfriend is Chi Cheng, the same man who has repeatedly interfered with his business opportunities.
  • The "seduction plan" begins: Suo Wei orchestrates a series of "coincidental" encounters with Chi Cheng.
  • Chi Cheng gradually takes notice of this mysterious and intriguing man.
  • Yue Yue prepares to meet Chi Cheng's parents, creating tension.
  • Suo Wei and Chi Cheng hold hands for the first time in the park.
  • Suo Wei reads books from Chi Cheng's university list to find topics to talk about, then invites him to a concert.
  • When Suo Wei falls ill, Chi Cheng visits his home, meets his mother, and ends up staying overnight.
  • Suo Wei discovers that Chi Cheng has kept all his gifts, revealing that Chi Cheng's feelings are real. This arc is characterized by calculated seduction and growing ambiguity. Suo Wei is in control at first, but subtle signs suggest Chi Cheng's vulnerability is genuine.

Arc 2: Love Complicates Revenge (Episodes 9–16)

Synopsis As the relationship deepens, the boundaries between revenge and true feeling begin to blur. Suo Wei finds himself genuinely caring for Chi Cheng, and Chi Cheng begins to open up about his inner world. However, complications arise from all sides: Yue Yue continues to scheme, Chi Cheng's father interferes in his life, and a mysterious figure from Chi Cheng's past—Wang Shuo, his former lover—returns, bringing long-buried secrets to the surface. Meanwhile, the secondary romance between Xiao Shuai and Guo Cheng Yu begins to develop, with Cheng Yu pursuing Xiao Shuai with persistent charm. Key Story Beats

  • Chi Cheng has an awkward dinner introducing Yue Yue to his parents, but his thoughts remain with Suo Wei.
  • Suo Wei feels hurt and restless when Chi Cheng is away on business for a long period.
  • Chi Cheng unexpectedly shows up in Suo Wei's room; they end up falling asleep in each other's arms.
  • Suo Wei launches his company, where Yue Yue attempts to reconcile. Suo Wei rejects her by revealing he is with Chi Cheng.
  • That same night, Suo Wei secretly searches online for ways to "turn himself straight" again—a discovery that angers Chi Cheng.
  • Chi Cheng's snake den encounters a crisis, forcing father and son to confront their strained relationship.
  • Wang Shuo, Chi Cheng's ex-boyfriend and "first love," returns from abroad after seven years, carrying deep regrets and hidden truths about why he left.
  • Guo Cheng Yu (Chi Cheng's best friend) begins his relentless pursuit of Jiang Xiao Shuai—first antagonistic, then increasingly flirtatious and sincere. This arc represents the emotional crisis and deepening of real feelings. Suo Wei can no longer pretend; Chi Cheng's walls begin to crumble; and the past refuses to stay buried.

Arc 3: Secrets, Confrontation, and Final Choice (Episodes 17–24)

Synopsis The final arc brings all conflicts to a head. Wang Shuo's return forces Chi Cheng to confront the truth about their breakup and his own past trauma. Yue Yue escalates her scheming, attempting to drive a wedge between the couple. Family pressures intensify as Chi Cheng's father demands he fulfill his traditional obligations. Suo Wei must decide whether his original revenge plan has become something far more real—and whether he has the courage to embrace a love he never expected. Key Story Beats

  • Wang Shuo's secret is revealed: he left years ago after a misunderstanding involving his mental health (depression) and a staged "betrayal" designed to protect Chi Cheng.
  • Suo Wei confronts the difference between his original scheme and his genuine feelings for Chi Cheng.
  • Yue Yue's final scheme to tear the couple apart is exposed and foiled.
  • Chi Cheng must choose between his father's expectations and his love for Suo Wei.
  • Guo Cheng Yu and Jiang Xiao Shuai's relationship reaches its emotional climax, with Cheng Yu's direct confession eventually winning Xiao Shuai's guarded heart.
  • The finale resolves both couples' stories, with Suo Wei fully embracing his identity and choosing to stay with Chi Cheng—not out of revenge, but out of genuine love. This arc is characterized by truth and redemption. Masks are removed, secrets are spoken, and each character must ultimately choose who they truly want to be.
