Love You in the Dark (红掌)

Lu Xizhou (Chen Xingxu), a psychology Ph.D. and entrepreneur, and Meng Lusha (Guan Xiaotong), a young painter, appear to be the perfect couple to the outside world. They met as teenagers, studied abroad together, and returned to China to build a seemingly ideal life. However, their flawless romance begins to crack when a mysterious suicide case involving a young girl forces hidden secrets to the surface. Meng Lusha accidentally discovers that Lu Xizhou has been concealing a secret past spanning five years—a past filled with revenge, lies, and dangerous choices made in the shadows. The drama uses the anthurium flower ("红掌") as a symbolic motif: its leaves and flowers are said to never meet, mirroring two people who are physically close but spiritually isolated. As the layers of deception unravel, the couple must confront whether their eight-year relationship was built on love or on a carefully constructed lie, and whether they can find their way back to each other after everything is exposed.

The 16-episode series (approx. 45 min each) can be broadly divided into the following main story arcs:

• Act 1: The Perfect Facade (Episodes 1-4 approx.): Lu Xizhou and Meng Lusha appear to have the ideal relationship. A romantic proposal seems to seal their happy ending. But Meng Lusha discovers a hidden secret in one of her paintings—evidence of Lu Xizhou's concealed past. A teenage girl's mysterious suicide case begins to unravel the threads of their perfect life.
• Act 2: Cracks Beneath the Surface (Episodes 5-8 approx.): As Meng Lusha investigates, she uncovers layers of lies. The five years Lu Xizhou spent abroad were not what he claimed. She begins to question whether his love was genuine or merely part of a calculated revenge plan. The couple's relationship enters a tense phase of mutual suspicion and emotional tug-of-war.
• Act 3: The Truth Unravels (Episodes 9-12 approx.): The full extent of Lu Xizhou's hidden agenda comes to light. His years of silence and sacrifice were driven by a desire to protect Meng Lusha from a darkness he believed she could never know. The truth behind the suicide case and Lu Xizhou's connection to it is revealed. Meng Lusha must decide whether she can forgive his deception.
• Act 4: Choosing Each Other (Episodes 13-16 approx.): After the truth is laid bare, Lu Xizhou and Meng Lusha confront their broken relationship. They must decide whether to walk away or rebuild on a foundation of honesty. The series concludes with their journey toward reconciliation—not a return to the past, but a new beginning built on mutual understanding and the courage to face the future together.
