Love of the Divine Tree (仙台有树)

Twenty years ago, Mu Qingge, the leader of the Xishan Sect, sacrificed her Golden Core to seal the demonic Ling Quan (Spirit Spring) within her disciple Su Yishui to protect the world, but was misunderstood as a demon and killed by the four major sects. Before her death, Su Yishui learned the truth and, after countless dangers, found the Reincarnation Tree, offering half of his Golden Core to help Mu Qingge be reborn. Twenty years later, Mu Qingge is reincarnated as Xue Ranran, a frail and dying girl. Su Yishui, now the head of the Xishan Sect, takes her as his disciple, vowing to protect her for life — thus swapping their master-disciple roles. As the seal on the Ling Quan loosens again and the demonic cultivator Dun Tian plots to use it to harm the world, Su Yishui and Xue Ranran must join forces, overcome hardships, thwart the conspiracy, and bring peace back to the world — while also rediscovering their love across two lifetimes.

The 40-episode first season can be broadly divided into five main story arcs:

• Act 1: The Past Life — Master & Disciple (Episodes 1-5): A cold open reveals the tragic past: Su Yishui leads the sects against his master Mu Qingge, who is branded a demon. She is killed but curses him. Flashbacks show how Mu Qingge discovered the young Su Yishui, forcibly took him as her disciple, and began taming his murderous aura.
• Act 2: The Present Life — Disciple Becomes Master (Episodes 6-15): Eighteen years later, Mu Qingge is reincarnated as Xue Ranran, a girl in rapid decline. Su Yishui finds her, forcibly takes her as his disciple (reversing their past roles), and brings her to Xishan. Ranran struggles to adapt while their past-life connection begins to surface through dreams and shared echoes.
• Act 3: Feelings Awaken & The Threat Looms (Episodes 16-28): As Su Yishui and Xue Ranran spend more time together, their feelings deepen. Su Yishui slowly opens up about his traumatic childhood. Meanwhile, the demonic cultivator Dun Tian’s plot to use the Ling Quan becomes clearer, and the seal begins to loosen. Subplots involving Su Yu (the ambitious prince) and Mu Ranwu (Mu Qingge’s jealous sister) unfold.
• Act 4: Confrontation & Sacrifice (Episodes 29-36): The threat escalates. Su Yishui is forced to seal the Ling Quan back into the ghost realm, risking his life. Dun Tian frames him during the sealing, causing Su Yishui to lose his memory. Despite his amnesia, he once again falls in love with Xue Ranran.
• Act 5: Final Battle & Happy Ending (Episodes 37-40): Su Yishui and Xue Ranran join forces to break Dun Tian’s conspiracy. After defeating the villain, they restore peace to the world. The couple marries and ends up with three children, living a happy, ordinary life.
