Love Between Fairy and Devil (苍兰诀)

Adapted from the eponymous novel by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang, Love Between Fairy and Devil follows Xiao Lanhua, a low-ranked fairy of the Floral Tribe, who accidentally releases Dongfang Qingcang, the powerful and feared Demon Lord known as the Moon Supreme, from a 30,000-year seal. As a result of her actions, she inadvertently bonds their souls together by a curse that forces the emotionless demon to feel everything she feels and to protect her at all costs, lest he die alongside her. What begins as a transactional relationship—as he initially intends to sacrifice her spirit to break his curse—slowly transforms as the callous Moon Supreme finds his long-dormant emotions stirred by the innocent and kind-hearted fairy. As their bond deepens across the Three Realms (Heaven, Human, and Demon), they must confront ancient prophecies, political conspiracies, and ultimately, the looming threat of the evil god Tai Sui, all while discovering that true love may be the most powerful force of all.

The 36-episode series (approx. 45 min each) can be broadly divided into four main story arcs:

• Act 1: The Accidental Bond & Growing Closeness (Episodes 1-12): Low-ranked fairy Xiao Lanhua inadvertently releases the powerful Demon Lord Dongfang Qingcang from the Haotian Tower, cosmically linking their fates. Trapped in a sealed dimension, they form an unlikely and often comedic alliance as the emotionless demon finds himself feeling everything she does. Xiao Lanhua tries to reconnect with her former love, Changheng, while Dongfang Qingcang secretly protects her, each encounter drawing them inexorably closer against the backdrop of a fairy qualification test and political turmoil in the Heavenly Realm.
• Act 2: Journey to the Demon Realm & Deepening Feelings (Episodes 13-20): Xiao Lanhua is taken to the Demon Realm (Cangyan Sea) as a political hostage. Rescued and protected by Dongfang Qingcang, she begins to see beyond his fearsome reputation to the heart beneath. To win her affection, he creates a replica of her beloved home for her and teaches her to harness a powerful flame. Unbeknownst to them, a dangerous sword that can sever their bond is discovered, and Xiao Lanhua’s true identity begins to surface through secret dreams, igniting deep romantic feelings between the pair.
• Act 3: Truths Unveiled & Testing Love (Episodes 21-30): As Xiao Lanhua realizes she is the reincarnation of the goddess Xiyun, the initial curse is broken, allowing the leads to truly express their love. However, a shocking betrayal reveals that Dongfang Qingcang’s army destroyed Xiao Lanhua’s original clan, forcing her to confront a devastating conflict between her two identities. After she sacrifices herself to save him, Dongfang Qingcang revives her using a divine seed, only for her to reawaken as the indifferent goddess Xiyun with no memory of their past, leading him to fight tirelessly to regain the love he lost.
• Act 4: The Final Battle & A Hard-Won Reunion (Episodes 31-36): The evil god Tai Sui threatens the Three Realms, possessing the goddess of war. Dongfang Qingcang and Changheng reluctantly join forces to protect Xiao Lanhua, who, as the goddess Xiyun, plans to sacrifice herself for the greater good. In a final confrontation, Dongfang Qingcang leads Tai Sui into his own heart and sacrifices himself, only to ultimately be reborn. Peace settles over the realms, and after centuries of waiting and remembrance, the pair are finally reunited in a long-awaited and deeply satisfying conclusion.
