The drama is currently in production (filming began August 20, 2026), and its ending has not been officially confirmed. The source material, the manhua Psychic Princess (通灵妃), is an ongoing comic, so the drama may adapt its own conclusion. The drama is adapted from the manhua Psychic Princess (通灵妃) by Rou Rou (肉肉), not a novel. The manhua's storyline differs, so direct novel-to-drama comparisons don't apply. Key changes from the manhua include:
- Plot Addition: The drama adds the "game穿越" (game transmigration) and "system" elements, making the female lead a modern game designer who enters the game she created. This is a significant departure from the original manhua's premise.
- Character Arc: The manhua's female lead is a "欢脱天真、生性活泼" (lively and innocent) girl. The drama reimagines her as a modern "社畜" (corporate slave) with contemporary sensibilities, creating a comedic "ancient body, modern soul" contrast.
- Plot Addition: The drama introduces the system's core conflict: the assassination mission and the "true love breaks invincibility" rule. This "game quest" framework is a new addition, driving the plot in a different direction from the manhua.
- Plot Restructuring: The drama shifts toward a "轻喜剧" (light comedy) tone, using the "社畜 vs. boss" dynamic for humor and audience relatability. The manhua's tone is more of a straightforward romantic comedy.
Plot Overview
Game designer Zhao Yining, driven to a breaking point by her exploitative boss Ye Youming, is unexpectedly transported into Tales of a Thousand Nights—a game she helped create. She awakens as the heroine, Qian Yunxi, a stand-in bride whose new husband, Ye Youming, is the spitting image of her real-world tormentor. Eager to return home, she happily accepts a system mission to assassinate him. However, she soon discovers he possesses an invincible body. As she repeatedly fails, the system updates: only "true love" can break his invincibility. Forced to pivot from "assassin" to "love con artist," her quest to win his heart leads them into perilous adventures among spirits and demons, where genuine feelings begin to bloom.
