Fireworks of My Heart (我的人间烟火)

Adapted from Jiu Yue Xi’s novel A City, Waiting for You, this drama follows fire chief Song Yan and ER doctor Xu Qin, childhood sweethearts whose families forced them apart a decade ago. Reunited now in their high-stakes professions, their initial awkwardness and lingering hurt is tested as they’re thrown together on dangerous missions. Through each life-and-death rescue, Song Yan’s unwavering dedication rekindles something in Xu Qin, forcing them to confront the past. Together, they find their way back to each other, overcoming old wounds and family opposition to protect the city side-by-side.

• The 40-episode series (online version) can be loosely divided as follows:
  • Act 1: Cold Reunion (Episodes 1-10): Song Yan and Xu Qin are thrown back together by their jobs. Their initial reunions are awkward and painful, with Song Yan keeping his distance due to past hurt and Xu Qin persistently trying to reconcile.
  • Act 2: Old Flames Resurface (Episodes 11-23): As they’re forced to work together on rescue missions, old feelings begin to surface. Song Yan’s cold exterior begins to crack, and Xu Qin faces mounting interference from her adoptive family, who still oppose their relationship.
  • Act 3: Truth and Crisis (Episodes 24-32): The truth behind their past breakup is fully revealed, leading to a relationship crisis. At the same time, a major earthquake strikes, and Song Yan is severely injured during rescue efforts while Xu Qin works tirelessly in the emergency room.
  • Act 4: United Front (Episodes 33-40): After surviving the earthquake ordeal, the couple reunites and confronts Xu Qin’s adoptive family together. Song Yan faces the fallout from a fire incident at Junguang Square, and ultimately, the pair overcomes all obstacles to secure a happy ending, their love forged through shared courage.
