Falling Into Your Smile (你微笑时很美)

Adapted from Qing Mei's novel You're Beautiful When You Smile, Falling Into Your Smile follows Tong Yao (Cheng Xiao), a talented amateur gamer who becomes the first official female player in China's professional e-sports league after being invited to join the all-male team ZGDX. Facing gender prejudice, online hostility, and the challenge of breaking into an insular male-dominated field, Tong Yao must prove her skills to her skeptical teammates and her stoic captain, Lu Sicheng (Xu Kai). What begins as a transactional arrangement to win the world championship gradually evolves into something deeper: Lu Sicheng's pursuit of his missing star player leads him to discover Tong Yao's exceptional talents; and as the team works together, romance quietly blossoms between the team captain and its only female member. Together, the ZGDX team must overcome defeats, injuries, and internal conflicts, ultimately fighting side by side for the global title and to fulfill the dream of ending China's six-year championship drought.

The 31-episode series (approx. 45 min each) can be broadly divided into four main story arcs:

• Act 1: Entering the All-Male E-sports Circle (Episodes 1-9): After being secretly tested by ZGDX, Tong Yao receives a formal invitation and decides to join the team. She moves into the male dormitory and begins training, encountering resistance and awkwardness from her new teammates. Her first practice match against her ex-boyfriend Jian Yang (CK team captain) and Lu Sicheng sparks love-triangle rumors when their in-game conversations are leaked online. Meanwhile, ZGDX's star player Lu Yue (Lu Sicheng's twin brother) suffers a career-halting injury, leaving the team captain to find a replacement; and Tong Yao learns that being the first female pro-player makes her a target for skepticism and online criticism.
• Act 2: Proving Her Worth & Budding Romance (Episodes 10-17): Tong Yao plays her first official match against CK, winning against her ex-boyfriend. The romantic tension between her and Lu Sicheng escalates after they spend the night caring for each other, which is accidentally revealed during a livestream. Tong Yao is attacked by opponents in matches but perseveres, eventually defeating A Tai from the Korean team TAT with her teammates' help. Meanwhile, Lu Sicheng's mother sets him up on a blind date, creating a subplot of jealousy and longing. At an anime convention, Tong Yao gets into a fight and receives a one-game suspension, forcing her to confront the professional consequences of her actions and the boundaries of her growing bond with the team captain.
• Act 3: Deepening Bonds & Team Crisis (Episodes 18-26): After the suspension incident, Tong Yao and the ZGDX team navigate interpersonal conflicts, including misunderstandings involving Lu Sicheng and his twin brother Lu Yue. The team prepares for major tournaments while dealing with pressure from rival teams and their respective personal struggles. Tong Yao proves herself indispensable as the team's assistant jungler. The love story moves forward as Lu Sicheng becomes more openly protective and affectionate toward Tong Yao, and the other ZGDX members gradually accept her as a vital part of the family. Team chemistry is challenged when a star player's career is threatened, forcing ZGDX to confront how much they are willing to sacrifice for each other.
• Act 4: Final Challenge & Championship Victory (Episodes 27-31): Tensions escalate as ZGDX battles through the national tournament and earns its place at the world championship. Tong Yao faces the most formidable opponent of her career, confronting both internal team conflicts and external rivalries. A serious injury to a key player tests the team's ability to rally. After overcoming psychological obstacles and external pressures, the ZGDX squad pulls together one final time. In the OPL national finals, Tong Yao and Lu Sicheng lead ZGDX to victory, breaking the years-long championship drought for the Chinese region. The series ends with the team solidified as a unified family, both Tong Yao's career secure and her romance with the captain flourishing.
