Deep In (入戏)
Plot Overview
Adapted from Tongzi’s (童子) novel of the same name, the series follows Zhang Zhun (Zhang Shu Yuan), a struggling actor attempting to overcome a career slump. He auditions for a daring LGBTQ+ film, catching the eye of the aloof and obsessive Best Actor, Zhen Xin (Ollie). In the film-within-a-film, they portray a psychiatrist and his patient whose relationship spirals into a dangerous mix of desire, obsession, and emotional manipulation. As filming progresses, the lines between performance and reality blur, and the two actors find it increasingly difficult to distinguish their genuine feelings from the fiction they are creating on screen.

Deep Dive: Story Arcs & Episode Guide
The series has 12 episodes, each approximately 42–45 minutes long. It can be broadly divided into four main story arcs:
- Act 1: The Audition & First Encounter (Episodes 1-3): Zhang Zhun, desperate for a career breakthrough, auditions for the film "Into the Role" and meets the famously difficult and brilliant actor Zhen Xin. Despite Zhen Xin’s intrusive and testing behavior, Zhang Zhun endures and secures the role.
- Act 2: Filming & Blurred Lines (Episodes 4-6): Principal photography begins. As they film intense scenes of a psychiatrist and patient, the emotional and physical closeness of their roles starts to bleed into their real-life interactions. Zhen Xin’s increasingly possessive and aggressive behavior off-camera leaves Zhang Zhun unsettled and confused.
- Act 3: Intensifying Obsession & Inner Conflict (Episodes 7-9): The boundaries between the characters and the actors completely dissolve. Zhen Xin’s advances become bolder, while Zhang Zhun struggles between his growing attraction and his fear of the consequences. They can no longer tell if their feelings are part of the performance or if they are truly falling for each other.
- Act 4: The Final Scenes & Facing the Truth (Episodes 10-12): The film shoot concludes, forcing both men to confront the reality of their relationship without the guise of their characters. They must decide whether the connection they forged was merely "being in the act," or if their true feelings are strong enough to survive outside the script.
