The drama is a fairly faithful adaptation, with many sources noting it "respects the original work" and even uses lines directly from the novel. However, there are some changes, particularly in the second half of the drama and to certain character endings.

  • Plot Deletion: The drama removed several explicit love scenes, including four notable intimate scenes that were present in the novel.
  • Plot Deletion: A key scene where two characters have a physical altercation in a room was deleted from the drama.
  • Character Arc: In the novel, Feng Shizhen's brother, A-Wen, works for a character named Zhao Hua'an. In the drama, this was changed to him working for Meng Xu'an instead.
  • Ending Differences: The novel includes a more detailed epilogue showing Rong Jiashang becoming a pilot and the couple having children. The drama does not include this, which contributed to the feeling that the ending was rushed.
