Beyond the Tide (雾潮燃欲)

Adapted from the novel Tidal Limits (《潮汐界限》) by Naitang Su, this short drama tells the story of Zhou Yushen (Shaw), the powerful and aloof president of Jian'an Group, whose schedule famously never stops for anyone. All that changes when he meets Yu Xi (Charlotte Rivers), a dedicated and capable deputy director of the survey department. He has secretly noticed her for a long time—especially when he saw her working diligently in the rain and left her his umbrella. Their fates truly intertwine on the night of her breakup, when the heartbroken Yu Xi, drunk and curled up on a street corner, sees the black car that "never stops" pull over before her. The imposing Zhou Yushen breaks his own rule, kneeling down to hold an umbrella over her and letting her cry in his car for forty-seven minutes. From that moment on, their slow-burn romance begins .

The series is an 80-episode short-form drama (approx. 2 min each). The arcs can be roughly divided as follows:

• Act 1: The Silent Observation (Episodes 1-20 approx.): Zhou Yushen notices Yu Xi's dedication to her work when he sees her collecting data alone in the rain. He leaves her an umbrella and, impressed by her competence, arranges for her to present at a major meeting. Yu Xi recognizes him as the big boss but keeps her distance due to their status gap .
• Act 2: The Breakup & The 47 Minutes (Episodes 21-40 approx.): Yu Xi discovers her boyfriend's infidelity and cleanly breaks up with him. Heartbroken and drunk, she waits on a street corner in the rain. Zhou Yushen, who has been secretly watching over her, breaks his rule and pulls over. He lets her cry in his car for forty-seven minutes, marking the true beginning of their emotional connection .
• Act 3: Professional Guidance & Blurred Lines (Episodes 41-60 approx.): Zhou Yushen continues to mentor Yu Xi professionally while secretly protecting her from behind the scenes. He even uses his assistant's identity to add her on WeChat. During an urban renewal project (which involves her grandfather's clinic), their personal and professional lives become increasingly intertwined, and his feelings for her become undeniable .
• Act 4: The Unspoken Truth & Confession (Episodes 61-80): After a company celebration, a tipsy Yu Xi calls Zhou Yushen, who finally confesses his feelings directly. He then rushes to pick her up. In the finale, they finally share their first kiss, fully acknowledging their feelings for each other—ending on a cliffhanger noted as "Season 1 End" .
