Plot Overview

Adapted from Ming Kai Ye He's novel of the same name, the story centers on Chen Qingwu (Zhang Jingyi), a ceramic artist, and her childhood friend Meng Qiran, the second son of the Meng family. Everyone expects them to marry, but Qiran, who loves his freedom, constantly avoids Qingwu’s feelings. After years of one-sided devotion, a disappointed Qingwu decides to let go. Watching her struggle from the sidelines all along is Meng Fuyuan (Li Xian), the family's eldest son and Qiran's brother, who has secretly harbored a forbidden love for Qingwu for six years. After Qingwu ends her ambiguous relationship with Qiran and focuses on her career, Fuyuan begins to actively pursue her. Qingwu initially rejects him but is eventually moved by his sincerity. When Qiran realizes his love and tries to win her back, Qingwu refuses him, choosing Fuyuan. The two overcome family pressure and societal judgment, publicly declaring their love.
