Miles Wei (魏哲鸣)

Wei Zheming’s path to fame is as unconventional as it is compelling. Unlike many stars, he first secured a coveted civil service position in Beijing before making the bold decision to quit, divorce, and plunge back into the uncertain world of acting. This risky gamble, combined with his natural “scholarly air” and a composed, reassuring on-screen presence, allowed him to dominate the unique “husband material” niche, winning over audiences with a sense of stability and trustworthiness. Today, he is widely recognized as the go-to actor for modern “CEO” roles.

Breakthrough Role Wei Zheming’s career breakthrough came in 2020 with the urban romance drama Perfect Mr. and Almost Miss (Wanmei Xiansheng he Chabuduo Xiaojie). In the show, he played Professor Zhang Sinian, a statistician forced into a contract marriage. His portrayal of a gentle, intellectual, and quietly devoted husband resonated deeply with viewers, firmly cementing his “husband material” image. This success was followed by a series of hits that solidified his status, including the 2021 drama President He‘s Unforgettable Love (He Xiansheng de Lianlian Buwang), which exceeded 100 million views in just three days, and the 2024 hit Private Romance (Sicang Langman). He further expanded his range with a role in the hit historical drama The Legend of the Fragrant Flower (Guose Fanghua) in 2025, where he played a “scumbag” ex-husband.

Public Perception Wei Zheming currently enjoys a stable and positive reputation in the Chinese entertainment industry. He is known for his consistent work ethic, having appeared in numerous productions, and his down-to-earth personality, often praised for his natural “boyfriend strength” and willingness to help out on set. However, he faces a common actor’s dilemma: the risk of being typecast. While he has successfully mastered the “gentle CEO” archetype, some critics argue his performances in modern dramas have become formulaic, with highly similar styling and character arcs. Despite this, his consistent delivery of popular dramas and his generally positive public image ensure he remains a familiar and well-liked face in the industry.
