Biography

Li Wenhan first rose to prominence as the undisputed No. 1 center of the 2019 survival show Youth With You, topping every ranking throughout the season and debuting as the leader of the boy group UNINE. Already a seasoned performer with the Korean-trained group UNIQ since 2014, his stage charisma and all-around abilities immediately set him apart. What truly made him a household name, however, was his relentless multi-platform presence — from music releases like his solo EP Wen and the TMEA "Best Stage Performance" award, to regular appearances on variety shows ranging from The Chase to I Am an Actor and The Irresistible Brother. In recent years, he has steadily expanded into acting, with major roles in films like Meet You and the hit drama Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty: Journey to the West, cementing his status as one of the most recognizable "all-rounder" idols of his generation.

Breakthrough Role Li's breakthrough arrived not through a single role, but through a multi-year transition from idol to actor. After building his name on stage, he took on his first leading film role in the 2022 romance Meet You (遇见你), playing the male lead Zhou Can. The same year, he starred as the lead in the youth sports drama Swimming Forward (泳往直前), where he portrayed a swimmer — a role that drew on his own background as a childhood swimming champion. In 2024, he appeared in the critically acclaimed detective series Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty: Journey to the West (唐朝诡事录之西行), marking his entry into mainstream television drama. In 2025, he received the "Annual Charismatic Young Actor" award at the 11th Hengdian Wenrong Awards, a recognition of his growing credibility as an actor after years of balancing music and screen work.

Public Perception Among the public, Li Wenhan is widely recognized as a hardworking and multi-talented figure who has successfully navigated the demanding path from idol trainee to established entertainer. His disciplined background — he gave up a U.S. study opportunity to pursue music, trained for years in South Korea, and holds a professional classical guitar certification — has earned him respect as a true "craftsman" in the industry. However, his acting journey has also been marked by public scrutiny: his performance as Wei Xiaobao on the variety show I Am an Actor drew sharp criticism from director Yu Zheng, who called his acting "unfocused" and "stiff". Yet Li has continued to build his filmography steadily, taking on roles across genres while maintaining a loyal fanbase. He is currently seen as an idol-turned-actor still on the ascent — one whose talent is undeniable, but who continues to prove himself one project at a time.
