Chen Si

Chen Si (沉思)

Pinyin: Chen Si

Biography

At just 27, Chen Si — better known by his stage name Chen Si (沉思) — has become the undisputed king of China’s micro-drama boom. A former art student who started as an ¥80-a-day extra, he has built an empire of over 70 productions, dominating platform charts with a staggering 60 titles on Red Fruit alone and 9.16 million monthly viewers. Dubbed the “short-drama uncle-circle representative” for his mature, commanding presence that belies his age, Chen has redefined the “tyrant CEO” archetype — infusing each role with distinct emotional depth and earning a reputation as the “Thousand-Faced Tyrant CEO”.

Breakthrough Role

Chen’s journey to stardom was anything but instant. After a failed attempt to break into traditional film and television — where his striking looks ironically worked against him as a supporting actor — he pivoted to micro-dramas in 2022. His first taste of recognition came with “Heavenly Five Treasures, Billionaire Daddy Surrender” (《天降五宝,千亿爹地快投降》) in late 2023. However, it was the 2025 romantic comedy “Honey, Please Fall in Love with Me” (《老公请和我恋爱吧》) that became his true breakthrough. In it, Chen played Leng Jing, a seemingly aloof CEO who is secretly the female lead‘s childhood sweetheart. The series amassed over 2 billion views in just five weeks, with 4.32 million collections and 8.77 million likes. This success was followed by a string of back-to-back hits — including “The Moonlight Rust” (《月光锈》), “Mandarava” (《曼陀罗》), and “Sister, He’s Really My Brother-in-Law” (《姐,他真是我姐夫》) — the latter of which topped Red Fruit’s popularity, new series, and trending charts within 24 hours of release, cementing his status as micro-drama royalty.

Public Perception

In an industry defined by fleeting fame, Chen Si stands out for his grounded humility and artistic integrity. A non-actor by training, he approaches each role with what he calls the “stupidest method” — fully immersing himself in the character‘s life, writing detailed backstories, and struggling to detach after filming ends. His commitment has earned him both audience devotion and industry recognition, including the “Annual Noteworthy Shining Male Actor” award at the 2025 Hengdian Micro-Drama Night. Yet fame hasn’t changed him: he regularly takes breaks to recharge, is known for switching off his phone after work, and has spoken openly about his early struggles — including being scammed out of ¥18,000. His fans remain fiercely loyal, throwing him his first-ever birthday celebration on set in 2025. In an era of disposable content, Chen Si has emerged as a rare figure: a micro-drama star with real staying power, genuine talent, and an unwavering commitment to his craft.
